Practicing Gratitude and Giving Service at Aberdeen
Clan Group Harvest Lunch
Wednesday, Oct. 7th (Early Dismissal Day)
As the Aberdeen School community, we believe we have much to be grateful for, and we love to work together to serve others (as shown during our very successful Terry Fox Run campaign). Coming up to Thanksgiving, we are taking time to gather in our multi-age clan groups to eat lunch, celebrate our good fortune, and support the local Kamloops Food Bank.
On Wednesday, October 7th, the students will be asked to bring their lunches* (even though it is an early dismissal day) and we will meet as a school family, to eat together and count our blessings as some classes sing or present a poem.
Until that day, we are asking everyone to bring a donation for the Food Bank to their own classes. We will be filling some donated backpacks with snack items for school children, so please consider sending things you might put in your child’s lunch, such as boxes of granola bars, fruit cups, etc. Or choose something from the list of most needed items on the back of this sheet.
Please take the time to talk to your children about the importance of serving others as part of supporting our school and city. Thank you, for helping us build a community of caring and sharing at Aberdeen.
(*Please do not pack any items with nuts on this day as there may be students with allergies in your child’s clan group. Thanks.)
